Georgia College Baseball 2024 Season Recap
Bulldogs Sweep No. 21 Georgia Tech to End Season
The Georgia Bulldogs baseball team ended their 2024 season on a high note, sweeping No. 21 Georgia Tech in a three-game series at Foley Field. The Bulldogs won the first game of the series 8-5 on Friday, then took the second game 6-4 on Saturday. They completed the sweep with a 9-4 victory in the series finale on Sunday.
The Bulldogs' victory over Georgia Tech was their first over a ranked opponent since they defeated No. 19 Auburn in April 2023. It was also their first series sweep of a ranked opponent since they swept No. 21 South Carolina in May 2022.
The Bulldogs finished the season with a 35-25 record overall and a 17-13 mark in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play. They finished tied for fifth place in the SEC East and earned a berth in the SEC Tournament.
Tough Season Ends in Disappointment
The Bulldogs' 2024 season was a tough one from the start. They lost their first four games of the season and never really recovered. They finished the season with a 25-35 record overall and a 9-21 mark in SEC play. They finished last in the SEC East and did not earn a berth in the SEC Tournament.
The Bulldogs' struggles were due in part to a number of injuries. They lost their starting shortstop, second baseman, and third baseman to injuries at various points during the season. They also had a number of other players who missed time due to injuries.
Despite the injuries, the Bulldogs showed a lot of fight throughout the season. They never gave up, even when they were down by a lot of runs. They also had some big wins during the season, including a series win over No. 19 Auburn.
