Background and Early Life

Usha Chilukuri Vance was born on January 6, 1986, in San Diego, California, to Indian immigrants. Her father is a dermatologist, and her mother is a homemaker. Vance spent her childhood in a financially secure environment and developed an interest in politics and international affairs from a young age.

Education and Career

Vance graduated with an honors degree in International Studies from Yale University in 2008. She then attended Yale Law School, where she graduated cum laude in 2011. After law school, Vance worked as an associate at a prestigious New York law firm.

Marriage to J.D. Vance

In 2014, Vance married J.D. Vance, a venture capitalist and author. J.D. Vance gained national recognition after the publication of his 2016 memoir, "Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis." The memoir explored the social and economic struggles faced by the white working class in Appalachia.

Political Involvement

Through her marriage, Usha Vance became involved in politics. She supported her husband's campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018 and for the U.S. Senate in 2022. In November 2022, J.D. Vance was elected to the U.S. Senate, representing the state of Ohio.

Personal Life

Usha Vance is a private person who largely stays out of the public eye. However, she has made occasional public appearances alongside her husband. She is known for her quiet demeanor and support for her husband's political career.
