Man Accused of Kidnapping Same Woman Twice Arrested After 2 Months on the Run

Grove City Police Apprehend Fugitive Suspect

Suspect Escaped from Lancaster Hospital During Escort

Lancaster, OH (August 16, 2024) - A wanted fugitive and kidnapping suspect who escaped from a Lancaster hospital while being escorted by police has been apprehended after a two-month manhunt. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Brandon Smith, was captured on Friday in Grove City, Ohio.

Smith is accused of kidnapping a woman twice this summer in Grove City. The first incident occurred in June while Smith was on the run from police. He allegedly abducted the woman at gunpoint and held her captive for several hours. Smith then fled the scene before police arrived.

The second kidnapping incident occurred in July after Smith had been released on bond. He is accused of kidnapping the same woman again and holding her captive for over a day. Police responded to a 911 call from the victim's neighbor and apprehended Smith at the scene.

Smith faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, escape, and aggravated robbery. He is currently being held in the Franklin County Jail without bond.

The Grove City Police Department commended the victim's bravery and thanked the community for their assistance in apprehending Smith. "This was a complex investigation that involved multiple agencies working together," said Grove City Police Chief Richard Butsko. "We are grateful to all who helped bring this dangerous fugitive to justice."
