Guerrilla Documentarian Captures Lynn Valley Stop Sign Runners

Caught on Film

If you tend to roll through one of Lynn Valley's busiest intersections, you might just be in a short film. A guerrilla documentarian has captured footage of numerous stop sign runners at the intersection of Lynn Valley Road and Mountain Highway.

The footage, which has been posted online, shows drivers of all ages and in all types of vehicles blatantly ignoring the stop sign. In one instance, a driver nearly collides with a pedestrian crossing the street.

"It's really shocking to see how many people are running the stop sign," said the documentarian, who wishes to remain anonymous. "It's a dangerous intersection, and it's only a matter of time before someone gets hurt."

The District of North Vancouver has been aware of the problem for some time and has taken steps to address it. In 2018, the district installed a red light camera at the intersection. However, the camera has not been effective in deterring stop sign runners.

The district is now considering other options, such as increasing police enforcement and installing speed bumps. However, these measures are likely to be unpopular with drivers.

In the meantime, the guerrilla documentarian hopes that his footage will raise awareness of the problem and encourage drivers to obey the stop sign.
